Buildpad

Big funnel, broke audience
👤 David & Felix Heikka (David had bootstrapped a prior SaaS to $30K MRR; the brothers built in public on X and Reddit, so a crowd waited at launch.)🌐 siteLinkedIn

A masterclass in top-of-funnel reach, and a warning: signups from broke founders don't become revenue.

Will it work? · our read
Reach, not revenue. Buildpad nailed distribution: build-in-public, a #4 Product Hunt launch, 100k founders signed up. Whether a broke, one-idea-then-gone audience ever pays enough is the question.

Revenue is STATED, first-party: co-founder Felix Heikka posted "My app makes me $7,300/month after 7 months" on Indie Hackers (May 2025) — his own words, not audited. An earlier third-party breakdown (Starter Story, November 2024) put MRR at $6K; the growth to $7,300 by May 2025 is consistent, not a discrepancy. No 2026 revenue is disclosed, so MRR here is dated to May 2025. "100,000+ founders" is a current homepage marketing claim (cumulative signups, not paying customers); the #4 Product Hunt rank, 475 launch-day signups and 20,000 users at one year come from Buildpad's own "Our story" page. The pre-revenue-founder audience and thin AI-wrapper moat are our read, not the founders' claim. We never score you.
