👤 Andy Cloke (Self-taught dev who built and sold a TikTok tool for $55K. He hit the Airtable-API pain himself and could build the fix.)🌐 site𝕏LinkedIn
A solo dev found the gap Airtable left, built the no-code fix, and grew it via the app store to $23K/mo.
Will it work? · our read
Quietly durable. One platform owns its fate. If Airtable ships native API fetch, or changes its app-store rules, the whole business is exposed.

Starter Story: "My Airtable Plugin Grew 4X To $23K/Mo" — Andy Cloke interview (2024); source of the $23K MRR figure, the 4x growth, and the 2023 churn plateau.datafetcher.com/about — first-party: "bootstrapped, profitable, in its 5th year," serving 100s of customers; founder Andy Cloke.Indie Bites #95 — Andy Cloke on reaching $20K MRR via YouTube and SEO (Sept 2023).Indie Bites #31 — Andy Cloke on selling Influence Grid (a TikTok tool) for $55K before Data Fetcher.
Revenue is STATED, not filed: "$23K MRR" is Andy Cloke's own figure in his 2024 Starter Story interview (its title and body both print "$23K/Mo" / "$23,000 MRR"), and it lines up with the "$20K MRR" he gave on Indie Bites in Sept 2023 and the "bootstrapped, profitable, 5th year" line on his own /about page. No audited accounts exist — Data Fetcher is a private solo company, so this is self-reported, not verified by a filing. The "about $276K/yr" run-rate is our arithmetic ($23K x 12), labeled "about." Customer count is his own "several hundred / 100s" — no exact number is public. Rival bar weights are our rough read of reach and mindshare, not revenue. All figures are USD; nothing was converted. The Airtable-dependency risk restates his own words on switching costs; it is not a claim about Airtable's roadmap. We never score you.
