Devolutions

How a self-made IT tool became a bootstrapped, profitable PAM company.
👤 David Hervieux (Self-taught programmer who ran a consulting shop for 6 years, built RDM for himself, then bet the whole company on it in 2010.)🌐 siteLinkedIn

He built RDM to stop memorizing passwords, gave it away, and found a business hiding in his own side tool.

Will it work? · our read
Quietly profitable. A free single-user tool became the funnel that sells shared credentials and privileged-access management to IT teams — bootstrapped to about C$50M a year.

Headline is first-party STATED: CEO David Hervieux in the Pulse 2 interview (2025-02-25) said Devolutions is 'currently generating nearly $50 million CAD in annual revenues' and serves 'over 800,000 users across 140 countries' with 250 employees — all three quotes verified in the raw page bytes. Not audited (private, bootstrapped, no outside funding). CAD to USD about 0.72, so about $36M USD; source's own CAD figure kept in original. More recent French-language CFNJ piece (2026-08) reports the company projecting C$73M revenue for 2026 and about C$15M annual profit, aiming for C$100M by 2028 — projections/current-profit stated by the company, not audited results, so kept out of the revenue headline. Latka's $32.9M (2024) is a third-party EST, lower and not used. Founded 2004 as a consultancy; pivoted to building software in 2010. verified:true (first-party). We never score you.
