How a French privacy startup turned GDPR into recurring revenue
👤 Romain Gauthier (CEO, co-founder) (Founded Didomi in 2017, before GDPR, and won IAB TCF + Google CMP certifications that make 'be compliant' mean 'install Didomi'.)🌐 siteLinkedIn

A law forced every EU site to ask cookie permission. Didomi turned that legal chore into a yearly subscription.

Will it work? · our read
Mandatory demand. GDPR and Google both make a certified consent banner compulsory to run EU ads. Didomi turned that into 1,500+ clients across 35 countries. But consent tech keeps commoditizing.
01How the money moves
EU site must show a consent banner to run ads legally
Didomi's certified CMP collects and logs the consent
Client pays an annual subscription, priced on monthly visitors

Revenue is NOT first-party. Didomi has never published an ARR figure. The headline 'about $50M ARR' is Latka's 2026 estimate for the combined Didomi group (post the 2025 Sourcepoint + Addingwell buys), given as a $40-60M range; Latka separately put standalone pre-acquisition Didomi at about $15-18M for 2025, up from about $10M end-2023. Growjo estimates similarly. Verified first-party from Didomi's own site (didomi.io/blog/didomi-sourcepoint, raw HTML): 'over 1,500' clients across '35 countries' before the 2025 acquisitions, and Sourcepoint's '200 global enterprise customers.' Funding is press-confirmed: $127.6M across 3 rounds, plus an $83M Marlin Equity investment in 2025 that funded the Addingwell buy (Clipperton press release, verified verbatim). Treat revenue as an estimate (sourced=EST) for a now-larger combined entity; client/country counts and funding are first-party or press-confirmed. verified=false because no revenue figure is first-party. We never score you.
