Seven years to $1M ARR, then $2.75M — Josh Haynam ground out a quiz tool, profitable the whole way, on zero VC.
Will it work? · our read
Patience compounded. Seven years to $1M ARR in a crowded market. Profitable throughout, so no investor timeline forced a sale — and templates, integrations and search rankings kept adding up.

The seven-year grind and eleven-person team are the crux: no funding, so growth had to pay for itself.
Profitable nearly every year since the early days, on no outside funding.

Practical Founders #43 — Josh Haynam on air: "$2.75 million in terms of Annual Recurring Revenue", 7 years to $1M ARR, 11 employees (Apr 28, 2023).Interact plans — Free (100 completions/mo, 2 quizzes), Lite $27/mo, Growth $53/mo, Pro $125/mo, annual billing (read Jul 2026).Interact homepage — "100M leads generated", "40% avg conversion rate", "500k customers served" (read Jul 2026).
Revenue is Josh Haynam's own figure said on the Practical Founders podcast ("$2.75 million in terms of Annual Recurring Revenue"), as transcribed on the host's episode page, April 2023 — first-party but now over three years old, and not audited. The seven-years-to-$1M-ARR and 11-employee figures are from that same interview. Interact's homepage (read Jul 2026) claims "100M leads generated" and "500k customers served"; the 500k is total users served, not paying customers, so it is not used as a customer count — the interview put paying customers in the "thousands". Pricing was read first-party on the plans page (Jul 2026). Haynam's X bio (@jhaynam) self-reports "bootstrapped to $3.3M", but the X profile would not open for us to confirm, so that figure is not headlined. Rival bar weights are our read of mindshare, not revenue. No outside funding, per the founder. We never score you.
