Kintsugi

Post-Wayfair nexus rules force US sellers to register and file in dozens of states. Kintsugi automates it end to end.
Will it work? · our read
Law makes demand. The regulation is permanent, so demand won't fade. The open question: can an AI-native upstart hold share against Avalara and Vertex, its own investor?

TechCrunch: Kintsugi doubles valuation; $3M revenue, 2,400 customers (2025)Vertex press release: strategic investment in Kintsugi (10% stake)Kintsugi — About: the 2018 Wayfair originKintsugi pricing: Free $0, Starter $75 per filingPujun Bhatnagar — personal site (ex-Meta, MIT, founded 2023)
Revenue of $3M is Kintsugi's own 2024 figure as reported in TechCrunch's April 2025 coverage of the Vertex-led round — first-party but not audited; the $10M is a stated target, not achieved. Customer count (2,400) and 0.1% churn are company claims from the same article. Pricing ($0 Free, $75 per filing Starter) was read live on the pricing page (raw HTML). The 2018 Wayfair framing is quoted from Kintsugi's own About page; founder background (ex-Meta ML engineer, MIT lecturer, started Kintsugi in 2023) from Pujun Bhatnagar's personal site itspujun.com. The ~10%/$18M Vertex stake and $150M valuation are from TechCrunch and Vertex's release. Rival anchors (Avalara's $8.4B Vista buyout, TaxJar bought by Stripe, Vertex public on NASDAQ) are widely reported and not re-verified here. No documented founder drama; won on timing and an AI-native wedge into a legally-forced market. Forbes and the frontlines.io interview would not open for me and were not used. We never score you.
