MySlabs

Peer-to-peer collectibles marketplace · New York · est. 2018
👤 Ken Rodgers (The founders were collectors tired of 13-22% fees, so they built a 2% venue and grew it via the hobby's own channels.)🌐 site𝕏

A marketplace that ran $80M of graded cards on a 2% fee - and still posted a loss. Huge traction, unproven economics.

Will it work? · our read
Volume, not margin. The 2% fee won $80M of GMV and a loyal niche, but it is too thin to fund the company - 2023 revenue fell to $389K and it lost $230K. A real wedge on unproven economics.

Revenue is FILED: MySlabs, Inc.'s SEC Form C-AR (Reg CF annual report, filed 2024-04-29) reports FY2023 revenue of $389,341 and a $229,752 net loss; the earlier Form C reports FY2022 $572,376 and FY2021 $483,216 - so revenue peaked in 2022 and fell in 2023. The about $80M GMV and about 70,000 users are the company's own figures from its Republic raise (STATED); GMV is value traded by sellers, not MySlabs revenue. Bootstrapped with an asterisk: self-funded 2018-2023, then a small Reg CF/Reg D raise on Republic (not VC). Fee model (2% slabs, 3% raw) confirmed on myslabs.com and an independent review. CEO Ken Rodgers, co-founders Matt Greaney and Emilio Masci. Founding year 2018 per Mint Condition (some sources say 2019). verified:true (first-party SEC filing). Included as an honest teardown of large GMV traction on unproven unit economics, not a clean growth story. We never score you.
